Basis for Processing: Legitimate Interest
This process is carried out by TerriTie with the aim of safeguarding the proper technical and operational functionality of the App for its Members.

31. Newsletter Engagement: We commit to respecting our members' inboxes. Therefore, we will cease sending newsletters to members who haven't opened them in over a year, ensuring our communications remain relevant and welcomed.

32. TerriTie User Verification Policy
Commitment to Safety and Trust
At TerriTie, the safety and trust of our community are paramount. To enhance these core values, we implement an optional profile Verification process. This process not only helps in affirming the authenticity of our users but also fosters a safer and more trustworthy environment for making connections.

Understanding the Optional Face Verification Process:

a. Verification Stages:

Optional Face Verification: Users may choose to participate in an optional face verification process to enhance the trust and authenticity of their profiles. This process is conducted by third-party services such as Amazon Rekognition AWS or other AI applications. The verification involves analyzing a submitted photo or video selfie, which is compared against the user's profile photos to ensure authenticity. Users opting for this service consent to their data being processed by these third-party services in compliance with GDPR and other applicable data protection laws.

b. Data Use and Retention:

Facial Geometry Data: If users opt into face verification, the facial geometry data is processed by third parties like Amazon Rekognition AWS. The data retention practices will align with GDPR and the policies of these third-party providers. Typically, facial geometry data is retained only for the duration necessary to complete the verification process and is not stored long-term unless explicitly required.
ID Photo (In Rare Cases): When ID verification is required, such as when a user is suspected to be under 18, the ID photo will be stored securely for the minimum duration required by GDPR or applicable laws, after which it will be permanently deleted.
Video Selfie Screenshots: If video selfies are captured for verification, they are retained only temporarily to complete the verification process and for auditing purposes. These are deleted automatically after being used, upon account closure or upon specific user request, in compliance with GDPR and other legal requirements.

c. Manual Profile Checks, AI, and Software Detection:

Regular Manual Checks: In addition to optional face verification, TerriTie conducts regular manual checks of profiles to ensure authenticity and compliance with our community standards.

AI and Software Detection: We also employ advanced AI and software detection tools to examine chats and user information. This helps in identifying and preventing misuse, scams, and fraudulent activities, further safeguarding our community.

Message Restrictions: To maintain security and authenticity, messaging within the system is restricted until a booking is made and confirmed. This helps to prevent fake profiles and enhance user safety.

d. User Responsibility and Platform Commitment:

Proactive Safety: While TerriTie offers tools like optional face verification, AI detection, and manual checks to enhance safety, users are encouraged to practice caution in all interactions. The responsibility for safe interactions ultimately lies with each user.
Limited Liability: TerriTie assumes no liability for harm resulting from the use of the optional face verification service. Users must engage with the platform responsibly.

e. Policy Transparency, GDPR Compliance, and User Consent:

Commitment to Transparency and GDPR Compliance: TerriTie is committed to transparency, GDPR compliance, and informed consent. This policy explains how optional face verification, AI detection, manual checks, and data retention work, ensuring users are well-informed about their data and rights under GDPR.

User Agreement: By using TerriTie, users agree to these terms, contributing to a safer community for everyone. ID verification will only be requested in exceptional circumstances to protect users or the platform.
Changes to This Policy: TerriTie reserves the right to update this policy to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or user feedback. Users will be notified of significant changes, ensuring continued compliance with data protection standards and our commitment to user safety.
